President Tsai Ing-wen on Friday announced a massive wage hike for pilots of the National Airborne Service Corps, a government agency that conducts search and rescue. All 100 pilots will get a NT$40,000 increase starting July 1, to help solve long-standing problems with recruitment and talent retention.But even after the raise, monthly salaries will start at NT$150,000, which is well below the average pay for pilots in the private sector.
