NASC was called for an emergency medical evacuation at Nanzixing Mountain at Rueifang District, New Taipei City

Squadron 1 of NASC 1st Wing, stationed at Songshang Airport in Taipei City, received a phone call from the Duty Command Center at 1300 hour today (23rd) that a medical evacuation was needed at Nanzixing Mountain at Rueifang District, New Taipei City, with the coordinate of (TWD97):N25-06-40 E121-52-33. A male at his 60s was suffering cardiac arrest. It was difficult to remove the patient from the site as evaluated by Mr. Tsai, Jung-Fu, the fire chief of Rueifang Fire Department. Therefore, a helicopter was requested to evacuate the patient by air lifting to the Veteran General Hospital (VGH) in Taipei City. 

An AS-365N Dolphin, number NA-101, was scrambled as soon as the order was received. The crew rushed to the helicopter immediately after the mission briefing. The engine started at 1310 hour and the helicopter took off shortly at 1318 hour, following the hills south of Xizhi at the altitude of 1,000ft and maximum continuous horsepower. At 1333 hour the helicopter arrived at the target area. The pilot started the aerial recon and horsepower check according to the routine procedure and gave the heads-up to the crew for CRM and other notes. At 1340 hour, the air lifting started. The patient was secured and lifted on board at 1350 hour and the helicopter headed for VGH. With the guidance of air traffic control, the helicopter landed at VGH and the patient was transferred to the waiting VGH crew at 1404 hour. Now with the patient in the good helping hands, the helicopter headed back at 1425 hour and landed at Songshang Airport at 1435 hour. The engine was turned off at 1440 hour to sum up a perfectly executed mission.
