2013-10-16 An Emergency Transport Mission for the Grand Ocean Sailor suffered from Stroke

The 2nd team of the 3rd NASC battalion stationed in Kaohsiung Airport received a notification from the NASC Duty Command Center today (the 15th): CGA reported that a sailor of the Mongolian container ship Grand Ocean was suffering from a suspected stroke and required an air transfer for treatment. 
The team immediately dispatched AS-365 Dolphin Helicopter number NA-104 to implement the emergency patient hoist work 14:00. As soon as the standby crew received the notice, the mission was immediately implemented with pre-flight prompts firstly performed. The helicopter took off at 14:15 and the weather in open sea outside Kaohsiung was sunny. Upholding the spirit of saving lives, the flight crew did their best to rescue the patient. At 14:30, they confirmed the location of Grand Ocean and contacted with the ship. At 14:35, the crew successfully moved the patient into the cabin by using the hoisting system. As the patient was in an unconscious state, the helicopter headed back to Kaohsiung International Airport with the fastest speed and landed at 15:10. The patient was then transferred to hospital by the ambulance for treatment.
