2013-10-24 Transfer of a Patient from Lanyu to the Main Island for EMS

A patient from Lanyu 廖O (male, was born in 1926) suffered from acute respiratory failure was in critical condition that needed to be urgently transferred to the Mackay Memorial Hospital Taitung Branch for treatment. 
NASC commanded the 2nd team of the 3rd battalion stationed in Kaohsiung to dispatch AS-365 Dolphin Helicopter number NA-104 to implement the Lanyu EMS mission. As soon as the standby crew received the notice, the mission was immediately implemented with pre-flight prompts firstly performed. The helicopter located at Kaohsiung International Airport had its engine turned on at 10:35 and took off at 10:40 towards Lanyu. Based on the spirit of saving lives, the flight crew travelled with the fastest speed and landed at Lanyu at 11:20. At 11:25, it then took off and headed to Taitung. As soon as it landed at Taitung Airport at 11:50, the grouped medical personnel then transported the patient to the hospital and successfully completed this outlying islands EMS mission.
