2013-11-15 Transfer of a Patient from Lanyu to the Main Island for EMS

The 2nd team of the 3rd NASC battalion stationed in Kaohsiung Airport received a notification from the NASC Duty Command Center today (the 15th): A Lanyu citizen 吳O雄 (male, was born in 1976) suffered from suspected stroke was in a critical condition. An EMS service to transfer the patient to Mackay Memorial Hospital Taitung Branch was therefore requested. 
After received the command, the standby crew immediately dispatched AS-365 Dolphin Helicopter number NA-105 to implement the Lanyu EMS mission. After performed pre-flight prompts, the flight crew turned on the helicopter engine at 16:35 and took off from Kaohsiung International Airport towards Lanyu at 16:40. Based on the spirit of saving lives, the flight crew travelled with the fastest speed and landed at Lanyu at 17:25. The helicopter took off again at 17:30 and returned to Taitung with the fastest speed. After it landed at Taitung Airport at 18:05, the patient was transported to hospital by ground medical personnel. This outlying islands EMS mission was successfully completed.
