2014-1-12 Emergency Transfer of the NEW ALLIACE Sailor

The NASC of Executive of the Interior received a notification from the NASC Duty Command Center: On the Liberian tanker NEW ALLIACE located in 9 nautical miles southwest of Kaohsiung, a Philippine sailor was injured. As the patient’s condition was getting worse, an air transfer was requested. The NASC Duty Command Center had immediately informed the 2nd team of the 3rd NASC battalion stationed in Kaohsiung Airport to implement the patient transfer mission on 12 January this year (2014). 
After received the command, the team dispatched AS-365 Dolphin Helicopter number NA-105 to implement the patient hoist work for the foreign sailor. After the standby crew performed pre-flight prompts, the helicopter immediately took off at 06:30. Upholding the spirit of saving lives, the crew did their best to rescue the patient and confirmed the target at 06:50. The crew successfully moved the patient into the cabin at 06:55. However, as the patient’s condition was getting worse, the crew then returned to Kaohsiung Airport with the maximum horsepower and the fastest speed. As soon as the helicopter landed at Kaohsiung Airport at 07:05, the patient – who was in a conscious state – was transported to Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital by the ambulance for treatment.
