2014-1-16 Emergency Transfer of the Mountain Climbing Group Driver suffered from Dislocated Lower Limb Joint

The 3rd team of the 3rd NASC battalion stationed in Taitung Fengnian received a notification from the NASC Duty Command Center today (the 15th): A mountain climbing group around 30 people went to Lulu Hot Spring in Haiduan Township of Taitung. On the way to the destination, the driver had the lower limb joint accidently stuck in the crevice and caused a dislocation. Although the dislocated joint was fixed with simple first-aid procedures, the high altitude and the long distance might worsen the patient’s condition as the patient was around 90kgs. An EMS to transport the patient was therefore requested. 
After received the phone call from the NASC Duty Command Center at 08:10, the standby crew immediately completed related works and dispatched UH-1H helicopter number NA-512 to implement the mission. The mission was completed by the pilot 龐O勇, co-pilot 劉O圖, engineer 鄭O城 and 2 SSRT members 黃O翰 and 游O明. The helicopter had its engine turned on at 08:25 and took off from Taitung Airport at 08:34 towards Lulu Hot Spring in Haiduan Township and arrived in the target zone at 09:10. As the terrain was narrow and not possible to land, the crew used the hoist system to move the patient into the cabin. After completed the patient hoist work at 09:20, the patient was then transported to Taitung at 09:40. The team captain had personally examined the patient’s condition as well as the status of medical personnel and the ambulance. Then the patient was delivered to Mackay Memorial Hospital Taitung Branch by the ambulance. The mission was successfully completed.
