2014-2-26 Transfer of a Patient from Kinmen to the Main Island for EMS

The 2nd team of the 3rd NASC battalion stationed in Kaohsiung Airport received a notification from the NASC Duty Command Center today (the 25th): A Kinmen citizen, son of 莊○蘭 (1 year old), suffered from imperforate anus was in a critical condition, an EMS to transfer the patient to Taipei NTUH on the main island was required. 
After received the notification from the NASC Duty Command Center at 13:15, the team dispatched AS-365 Dolphin helicopter number NA-105 to implement the Kinmen EMS Transfer mission. The standby crew immediately implemented the mission with pre-flight prompts firstly performed. The helicopter located at Kaohsiung International Airport had its engine turned on at 13:30 and took off at 13:35 towards Kinmen. Based on the spirit of saving lives, the flight crew travelled with the fastest speed and landed at Kinmen at 15:00. The helicopter turned off its engine at 15:05 to refuel and the patient got on board at 15:15. The flight crew then turned on the engine again at 15:20 and took off at 15:25, headed back to Taipei Songshan Airport with the patient, family member and medical personnel (4 people) on board). After the helicopter landed at Taipei Songshan Airport at 16:55, the patient was immediately transferred to Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital by the ambulance for treatment. This outlying islands EMS mission was successfully completed.
