Nov 8 2016, National Airborne Service Corps evacuated a patient in Kinmen suffering acute cholecystitis, liver abscess and blood poisoning for medical assistance, and the mission was a success.

   Today (Nov 8) at 13:30, Squadron 1, the 1st Wing of National Airborne Service Corps at Songshan Airport received phone call from the duty command center that Mrs. Miao (born in 1927) in Kinmen had an acute combination of cholecystitis, liver abscess and blood poisoning that required immediate medical attention. The medical evacuation by air was requested because local medical facilities did not have the equipment to deal with this complicated condition.

 

    An AS-365N Dolphin helicopter, numbered NA-102, was scrambled upon receiving the order from the HQs. The crew standing by was briefed and ready to take off. The engine started at 13:40. The helicopter took off at 13:49 and followed the A1, W6 route at the altitude of 6,000 feet and maximum cruising power. At 15: 35 the helicopter landed at Kinmen Airport to pick up 3 passengers, including the patient, a family member and a medical worker. At 16:08 the helicopter took off again and followed the same route back to Songshan at the altitude of 5,000 feet. The helicopter landed at 18:00 and the engine was shut down at 18:05. The patient was handed over to a medical team that transported the patient to Taipei Veteran General Hospital for treatment. The mission was a success.
